Dry Canyon

Have always looked at canyons and thought how brilliant they are to visit. Walking solo and not liking to get wet doesn't leave many options. I had heard of a few dry canyons or walk through canyons and today was the day to visit one. The Dry Canyon or Nobles Canyon off the Glow Worm Tunnel Road on the Newnes Plateau was an easy walk with big returns. About 4klm return trip meant I could carry my tripod and take some photos in the poor light of the canyon.

Easy walking through open woodland on the way in.

The cliffs start to narrow.

and the tight canyon formation starts. There are 2 constriction of the canyon before it opens out on the cliffs over the Wolgan Valley.

I stopped just after the canyon finished and turned around as the late afternoon sun was shining straight down the lens of the camera. I was also running out of time. I will definitely be back.

At one stage I looked down into a dark overhang and jumped before I realised that this dingo had expired. It must have been a recent demise as there was no deterioration of the body or smell. I assume a victim of wild dog baiting.

Here be dragons.

Back at the car after 4 for a very late lunch and a some small pagoda formations while I ate.

A brilliant short walk that quickly made it on to my favourites list.
