Turon River

After spending the day in Gardens of Stone National Park in the Capertee Valley I dropped down into the Turon Valley National Park and set up camp quickly before the rain started.
A wet and cold night without a fire. I slept most of the night wrapped up in the quilt in the camping recliner before the pre dawn cold sent me into the cot tent and extra blankets.
It had rained most of the night but cleared enough in the morning to finally get a fire going.

About mid morning I packed up and headed off to walk downstream along the Turon River.

After a while I headed up Fiddlers Creek to some old Gold diggings then climbed the ridge to head back to the river and the car.

Easy walking on a 6.5klm loop along the river and through open forest.

By the time I got back to the car the clouds were threatening again and the forecast for more rain that night. I opted for the warmth of my own bed and headed home.

Airly Creek

A few days away  with rain predicted on the coast meant a trip west to try and beat the wet. Driving up after work and a wet night in my cot tent at Mt Banks before driving through Lithgow and down into the Capertee Valley. The Gardens of Stone National Park opens up on the right as you drop into the valley and I was thought some good views of Pantoneys Crown could be seen from the Airly Creek Firetrail.

Easy walking on the ridge out to Airly Creek with views back to Genowlan Mt in Mugii Murram-ban State Conservation Area on the western side of the Glen Davis Rd.

Then a steep drop down to Airly Creek  before an even steeper climb up the other side.

Views opened up as I turned back on Goats Rock Trail to an unnamed point (Goats Rock?) over Airly Creek

At the end of the ridge with panoramic views over the Gardens of Stone National Park to Pantoneys Crown

Looking down the valley to Glen Davis

Mt Gundangaroo in centre with the sharp point of Mt Canobla in front with Point Anderson and the Red Rocks on the right.

Mt McLean and Mt Jamison in the distance near Baal Bone Gap

The view back over Airly Creek to Genowlan Mount

From the lookout point a nice ramp through the cliffs led to a steep down hill to Airly Creek  which I then followed a short distance back to the fire trail which saved me a few kilometres and about an hours walking.

On the way out at Capertee, a traditional stop at Pearsons Lookout, for photos back over the valley

An easy and pleasurable 12klm walk.

Bawley Point

A short stay at Batemans Bay again with an evening walk from the marina and along Corrigans Beach before a lovely dinner at Kohli's Waterfront Indian Restaurant.

Next day we called in at Bawley Point.
A fishing platform built at the site of the old wharf.

Bawley Point

Then a short loop walk around Murramarang Aboriginal Area

and then off on a side track crossing Nattai Creek again

before coming to the 2nd or lower dam

The creek continues on below the dm

A pleasant short walk
