Far West-Day 5 Mungo

Up early but a slow morning reading and a short walk watching birds.
Continued on the Mungo Loop and stopped first at Round Tank. These dams  were built during the pastoral lease for stock watering.

Next stop at Vigars Well, where you can access the mobile dunes on the old lake shore.
The natural spring at Vigars Well was a coach stop for Cobb and Co and where the coach road went over the dunes to the lake and across to Mungo Homestead.

Continuing on the loop the next stop is the old Zanci Homestead where they built an underground dugout to protect themselves from the summer heat.

After a lovely hot shower and a coffee back at the Mungo Visitor Centre it was time to leave and head off to Mildura. Lunch at the Inland Botanic Gardens with a great display of Sturt's Desert Pea.

Arrived late afternoon in Kemendok National Park on the banks of the Murray River between Mildura and Euston.

Another easy camp in an ideal setting.
