Bruny Island

Boat trip today on Bruny Island south of Hobart. Probably the best $100 per head I have spent. Sea Caves and kelp forests.

Spectacular coastal cliffs and sea stacks.

Guide actually judges the swell and takes us through the gap a few times.

Australian Fur Seals.

Amazing how close we can get to these animals.

The guide told us that most of the cruise is in the Tasman Sea and when we head across to the seal colony on the outer rocks/islands that it becomes the Southern ocean. The difference in the swell was noticable.

Bruny Cape. As far south as I have been. The lighthouse is behind us looking out at the Southern Ocean.

The neck joining North and South Bruny Island. This is a penguin colony and although you can see the burrows, they dont return until dusk which is after the last ferry to the mainland, so we couldnt stay.
