Georges River National Park

Early morning walk and paddle at Georges River National Park. 2klm walk around Yeramba lagoon and then 11.7klm paddle on the Georges River and Mill Creek.

I often walked around Yeramba Lagoon 20 something years ago. It has changed a bit and I found it hard to enjoy the walk this time as now it was silted up and full of weeds.

Started the paddle from Burrawang Reach in the National Park where there was a small beach still exposed at the high tide.

Headed upriver to Fitzgerald Park and the marina at Picnic Point

A lovely calm stretch of the river. Cant remember any boats on the water and only a couple of fishermen along the shore.

Heading back opposite the launch point,  I turned up Mill Creek. This was a completely different vibe to the main river with bushland on both sides of the creek.

The turn around point of the paddle with a rock shelf and a small dam across the creek.

The freshwater part of the creek above the rock bar.

The creek was full of blossom from the gums and fruits and seeds from the scrub. Hundreds of Sulphur Crested Cockatoos were taking advantage of the bounty.
