Cullendulla Creek Nature Reserve

 My local Nature Reserve.

This post will be a repository for ongoing visits over time.

September 25

Low tide for the walk today and from the beach I noticed a White-bellied Sea Eagle on the other side of the creek on Square Head. I walked out along the spit to get as close as I could for a shot.

As I turned to leave he flew out over the shallows in a lazy loop then made a dive.

I was following his dive with the camera shutter furiously clicking and just as he was about to grab the fish the buffering stopped the shutter and I missed the capture

Some nice photos, but now do I spend $200 to upgrade my SD to a faster card ?

On the spit some of the usual  regulars.

Bundy Break

Its been a wet winter and Spring is expected to be more of the same. A couple of nice days to work in the garden at Bundanoon and do a few walks before heading off in the Camper Trailer to the Seven Valleys (Lithgow) Region.
A late afternoon walk from the Glow Worm Glen track and out to Riverview and Mark Morton Lookout

Bundanoon Creek far below

Lookout views up and down the valley.

Late afternoon sun on the cliffs opposite
Not many birds around and the scrub is thick. The Lyre Birds were too quick but very vociferous in the scrub.
Satin Bowerbird

Brown Gerygone

5.6klm return walk for the afternoon.

The next day a quick walk along the Wingecarribee River at Burradoo after dropping Chris off for an appointment.

A very windy and cold day.

Durras Lake Walk

A short walk along Durras Lake.

Thought it would be wet so I wore my gumboots which was a good plan.

6.7klm on a grey overcast morning

The track looked like the creek at times.

Not lots of birds around but enough to keep me busy.

Panboola then Waratah Gully Camp

An overnight camp with my new tent to Waratah Gully Campground in South East Forests National Park. Breakfast in Pambula, a pie from Wild Ryes Bakery. One of the nicest pies I've had in a long time.

Then a walk around Panboola, a community managed wetlands and habitat restoration project.

Then off up the escarpment to Waratah Gully. Had the campsite to myself and spent a relaxing afternoon setting up the tent and reading.

A visit from a Grey Currawong

Next morning a short drive to Myanba Gorge

Then off to Bombala and a look at the Platypus Reserve.
Very windy here but a lovely stretch of river. There is a  kayak launch point from a beach so its on a list to come back.

A nice mini break and hopefully the start of many more.
