Badgerys Lookout is a short drive from Tallong in the Southern Tablelands.
It looks out over the Shoalhaven Gorge. From here you can walk down Badgerys Spur to a crossing place on the river. I didn't cross the river on this walk but went downstream on the left bank for a few kilometres. Mostly easy walking with a few scrambling and weedy spots.Only 9.6klm for the day but nearly 500mtr climb down and back out.
The Shoalhaven Gorge from the lookout.
Panorama from the gorge to Bungonia
Looking over Mt Pollock and Kingpin Mountain to the scar of the Bungonia Limestone Quarry
The cliffs of Bungonia Gorge
Mt Pollock (centre) with Kingpin Mt and the quarry scar on the right.
Grass Trees line the track on the way down
Views of the river as you descend.
Badgerys Crossing Place
Beautiful river scenery
I again had the whole gorge to myself and didn't see a soul all day.
Good for my soul.
