Crossing Over

Leaving Staghorn Flat we headed back to NSW after our foray into foreign lands.

A quick stop at Koetong to look at the old trestle bridge . Still on the High Country Rail Trail. Obviously you need to detour around the ridge.

Then on through Corryong and down to the Murray River.

Views of the Western Fall and the snow capped Mt Kosciusko. 

Then the Murray River as we cross back to NSW. 

Lazy Day

The only paddle of the trip. A couple of hours on Lake Hume at Tallangatta.

Like most dams and lakes, a big open expanse of water. A little windy so I declined to paddle to the upper reaches of the dam at Old Tallangatta, which I would have preferred.

In the afternoon we walked from the farmhouse where we were staying, across the paddocks of waist high grass and down to Yackandandah Creek.

Mt Buffalo-The Gorge

Still on Mt Buffalo, we stopped at the Gorge on the way back down. Very late afternoon made it hard to photograph with the contrast between the mountain shadow and the valley sun.  You can appreciate the steepness of the climb from here and the impression is of a true mountain . The valley below is of the Ovens River as it flows through Porepunkah and Bright.
