Ganguddy Pagoda Walk

An excess of holidays accrued and the chance to whittle them away a few days at a time lets me have plenty of mini-breaks.  A 4 day weekend (midweek) saw me off to Dunns Swamp near Rylstone for some walking and paddling at one of my favourite places.
Leaving after work I headed up the mountains and camped at Mt Banks for the night. Early morning saw the top of Mt Banks in the clouds and some nice colour on the walls of the Grose Valley cliffs opposite.

Mt Bell and Mt Tomah

At Dunns Swamp (Ganguddy) in Wollemi National Park by mid morning I set off on the Pagoda and Weir walks.
The beach near the camping area.

From Platypus Point

Then climbing up the pagodas. An easy climb lets you wind your way along the top of the pagodas to the high point and the end overlooking the dam.

Back down from the pagodas I continued on the track to the weir and the long cave. More views back down the dam, which is on the Cudgegong River.

The dam, built to supply water to the Kandos cement works in the 1920's.

From here it is a loop past the Long cave and back to the track on the side of the dam back to the camping area, a walk of 6.9klm all up.
