Have done this walk in Dharug National Park a few times but had usually walked as a loop down Devines Hill and never walked out through Shepherds Gully on Settlers Road. Leaving a bike at the Shepherds Gully trackhead left a 9.5klm walk with a 11klm ride back to the car.
Well done signage along the track explaining the historic concept of the track.
Views back over the Hawkesbury River from the first ridge ascent.
Looking down into Roses Gully. I always thought that this was a beautiful waterway and would live to follow it up the valley. No access through private property though.
At the top of the track a great lookout over Wisemans Ferry.
The main street and pub at Wisemans Ferry.
Superb views over the Hawkesbury River and the McDonald River Valley.
At the top of Devines Hill I headed down to see Hangmans Rock
Stonework along the convict built road
Culvert under the road for drainage.
Old bridge on the Shepherds Gully Road.
