Lake Parramatta was formed by a dam built in the 1850's across Hunts Creek. A pleasant picnic area with a cafe and a swimming area with lifeguards during summer. The 4.2klm circuit walk takes you through typical Sydney bushland as it circles the dam.
Hunts Creek flowing in to the back of the dam.
Looking back across the dam to the picnic grounds and the swimming area. Canoeing in the dam is allowed and people were fishing from the shore.
The masonry arch dam wall designed by Lieutenant percy Simpson who also engineereed much of the Great North Road through Wisemans Ferry and on to the Hunter region.
Some birds at the dam included Hardhead, Eurasian Coot and Dusky Moorhen
