Sheepskin Hut is in Wollemi National Park in the northern sector. A 4wd trail through the Putty Valley and around Kindarun Mountain takes you there.
A 2 hour drive from the Putty Rd gets you to the hut which is in a quiet little valley in the middle of nowhere.
The hut is a small dirt floored hut with a stone fireplace at one end. The hut next to it with no door but open all way round at the bottom is assumed to be for the protection of stock (sheep) or possibly tools and gear.
Set up the stretcher and stayed the night in the hut.
The road into the valley. Little undergrowth and quite easy to walk through, we can assume it has been cleared at some time and allowed to regrow.
The creek through the valley, mostly dry at the moment.
Sandstone ridge running along the creek. A large cave. I had read that there are some aboriginal hand stencils in a cave near the creek but couldn't find any this visit.
The tops of the surrounding hills, quite open and would have been good grazing in the past.
On the way out, back to the Putty Road, good views of Wareng (Little Yengo) and Mt Yengo to the east in Yengo National Park.
