Kentlyn Basin

I had organised an MRI for my knee to see what the problem is and had to travel to Campbelltown to have it done. This gave me an opportunity for a couple of short walks down to the Georges River before the late afternoon appointment.
The first stop was at Ingleburn Weir. This walk was under a kilometre there and back to a pretty stop on the river.

Then on to Keith Longhurst Reserve at Kentlyn for a short walk through nice bushland down to Kentlyn Basin. A picturesque swimming spot with a waterfall, large basin and a beach area. What more could you want?

Once I walked back up to the car a firetrail went down to another crossing of the river. This was the Old Coach Road with historical markers and signage. An evenly graded and well made road down to the river.

Combining both walks it was about 6klm all up.

Simmo's Beach

Simmo's Beach is on the Georges River at Macquarie Fields.
A popular swimming spot with BBQ and Picnic area.

There is a cost though for being a popular spot with easy access and the amount of rubbish here was disappointing to say the least.

Frere's Crossing

Frere's Crossing is on the Georges River at Kentlyn near Campbelltown. The road was the old way
 from Campbelltown to Wollongong.

All that remains now are the old bridge supports and the fire trail that leads into the Holsworthy Military range.

This Red bellied Black Snake, about 60cm long, was very active hunting amongst the rocks on the crossing.

Long pools either side of the crossing although swimming is discouraged due to pollution. This seemed weird as further downstream at Simmo's Beach there is plenty of swimming.

Perfect day and not a soul to be seen or heard.
