In Marramarra National Park the Canoelands Ridge walk takes you out to Gentlemans Halt. I drove out to the car park after work and camped next to the car. I knew this walk ,although following the ridge, had a few good steep up and downs and was going to be a good test for my knee. Mid winter and a cold night but a blue sky day saw an early start for the 20klm return walk. As I didn't go all the way down to Gentlemans Halt but went on to the lookout opposite from Big Jims Point it was fire trail walk all the way.
First views of the Hawkesbury River
Paddys Bight and Sentry Box Reach
Just before the track down to Gentlemans Halt there are a few good lookout points over Couranga Point
and across to Spencer and the Mouth of Mangrove Creek.
Further round at the end of the firetrail looking downstream, left to right, at Big Jims Point, Bar Point and Pumpkin Point.
Looking back to Gentlemans Halt
Such a majestic waterway.
