Long Point to Shoalhaven River

On my list of walks for a long time. Starting at the Long Point Lookout  6klm from Tallong, the walk of  just over 12klm is really a just a taste of the area, with more options available walking along the Shoalhaven once you reach McCallums Flat. A surprisingly well graded track to cover the steep up and down of this imposing country.

Views from Long Point Lookout with McCallums Flat the cleared patch centre right of picture.

The track follows a narrow causeway/saddle out to Kingpin Mountain. The fall on both sides of the track is dizzingly steep.

About half way down and the first glimpse of the Shoalhaven River comes into view.

McCallums Flat

Abandoned farm or mining machinery on the flat.

A beautiful, grand river, which I had pretty much to myself.

Thanks for posting the blog and sharing the photos - this looks like a splendid bushwalk. What is the total return distance? 12km or 24km?

Hi Marg-The total walk was 12klm. Another access point to the Shoalhaven at Tallong is via Badgery's Lookout. Have a look at my Blog for Badgery's Crossing Place, a9.6klm return walk.
