Not quite Gilligans Island but a 3 hour cruise/tour of Goat Island in Sydney Harbour. Goat island is west of the Harbour Bridge and just off Balmain Point.
The tour departs Campells Cove at Circular Quay in a 1924 built ferry Wangi Queen which has spent most of its time at Lake Macquarie.
A harbour tour with an open bar and a feed at lunch, the ideal way to catch up with some mates.
Goat Island with many convict built buildings.
Convict built wall which was built to surround the gunpowder magazine
A later industrial use for the island.
This is the gunpowder magazine with buttress walls up to 14ft thick.
The front of the magazine with a replica box on wheels which was used to house 20 convicts from sunset to sunrise whilst the facility was being built.
The inside of the magazine. Each sandstone block was lifted into place by hand, including the curved dome
The development at Barangaroo on the west of Sydney
It is a beautiful city.
Before returning to the Quay, we took a loop around Fort Denison.
