The Basin, Cabbage Tree Creek

 Cabbage Tree Creek runs into the Shoalhaven River just west of Nowra. 

A short 4.4klm return walk down a fire trail from next to the recycling centre.  A very hot and humid day under the cloud cover.  I wanted to check out if I could beach here when kayaking. Yes I can.

Easy walking down through open forest. Not many birds today but a nice Lace Monitor watched as I went past.

A nice easy walk down before a steep drop down to the river flats and along under the cliffs. The Basin opens up where the freshwater comes over the waterfall and into the saltwater tributary of the Shoalhaven River. Not a lot of water coming over today.

The river flats a very weedy but beauty can be found anywhere.

Bungonia Yellow Track

Been a while. Many excuses- Covid lockdowns, shift work, nagging injuries, spending more time on projects at home, Google changing Picasa, slow computer and trying to learn Adobe Lightroom ,but I am also getting older and tired. 

Hoping for a renaissance and getting back to it all though.

I've been walking some of the Bungonia Tracks on the way to and from Bundanoon. 

The Yellow Track crosses Bungonia Creek and heads out to a lookout over Jerrara Creek Canyon.  4.7klm return from the track head at the Bungonia Camping Area.

Not long till you drop down and cross Bungonia Creek.

You then follow the ridge above the creek for a while.

Camel Rock

The plan was to leave the bike at Camel Rock then drive to Bermagui and walk back but with strong winds pushing me around I decided to ride both ways.

The old coast road is now a bike track that runs past Long Swamp.

On the way back I rode over Keatings Headland to Bermagui Lagoon.

And north to Camel Rock and Gulaga

Then I rode out on the breakwater.

Once back at the car I drove around to the picnic area on Black Lagoon to see if I could get the kayak in on another day. Yes.

Then off to the Wallaga Lake entrance to walk back to Camel Rock.

Out to Murrunna Point and then south on a good track past Pebbly Beach

to look down on Horse Head Rock

Then back to views over Wallaga Lake and Gulaga.

Something special about this mountain.
