A Day on the Farm

Staying for the weekend at our friends BandB on their farm at Ruffy in the Strathbogie Ranges in Central Victoria.
Lush green pastures with Poll Hereford cows crossed with an Angus bull to get black calves with white faces.

Goats in the vineyard.

Evening drinks  and good company around the fire.

A short drive to the Goulburn River.

And the dam at Lake Eildon

Into Victoria

Leaving Wagga we headed south to visit friends in Victoria pasiing through Corowa on the Murray River and stopping for lunch at Winton Wetlands.

The Murray at Corowa. As usual the Murray had flooded and the picnic areas and walks I had planned here were still boggy and closed.

Winton Wetlands. We had a great lunch in the cafe here. Very interesting area and one I will return too. Lots of birds and walks/rides/paddles to explore.

My first Diamond Firetail, seen while waiting for lunch at the cafe.

Pomingalarna Reserve

Pomingalarna Reserve is just outside Wagga  and part of the Wiradjura Trail runs through it. Again due to flood damage we could not walk along the river into Wagga  on the Wirajura Trail so we did a 5klm loop around Pomingalarna. An open area of woodland and paddocks with views back over Wagga.

The tragic story of Pomingalarna and Gobbagumbalin.

The Rock summit

After walking the Two Towers track and the Rock Lookout loop I came back a few days later to walk to the summit which was a lot easier.  A wider and more gently graded track to the top although the mosquitoes were still the same.

Under the summit pinnacle.

Sweeping views again.

Coming back down a panorama of the whole Rock with the ridge of the original walk on the right and The Rock summit on the left.

Looking back at The Rock from the road out.
