Popran Creek paddle.

Night shift again so an opportunity for a morning paddle before an afternoon nap. Launched from the old Government Wharf at Wendouree  on the Hawkesbury and paddled up Mangrove Creek and then into Popran Creek. Coffee and scones at the general store at Spencer on the way back. 17.3klm all up.

The wharf on the Hawkesbury River.

Spencer and the mouth of Mangrove Creek.

Looking up mangrove Creek with Popran Creek coming in on the right.

The entrance to Popran Creek

Paddled about 2.5klm up Popran Creek before some light showers started me on the way home.

Yep,  rain coming. I'm going to get wet.

Berrima

Had been to Berrima numerous times but had never been along the river there. Looking at Google maps showed a weir on the Wingecaribbe River with a bushland reserve surrounding it.

In Berrima itself a further walk around town and along the river showcasing the history of the area.

The Courthouse at Berrima opposite the Berrima Gaol which is now empty.

Edogawa Commemorative Garden

The Edowgawa Gardens are a gift to Gosford City from its sister city Edogawa in Japan. Opened in 1994 the garden is a traditional Japanese 'Shuyu' or strolling style garden from the Heian period around 700AD.

Zephranthes candida or white windflower is used as an edging around the paths.

Raked stone garden or 'karesansui'

Japenese teahouse with a koi filled pond

Stone lanterns, this one a 'kotoji' named for its resemblance to a Japanese harp. One leg in water and one on ground to symbolise the interdependence of the two.

Same picture as the second one above but photoshoped to lighten the shadows.

A must visit in spring when the cherry blossom and wisteria will be in flower. The garden is in East Gosford and entry is free.

Mooney Mooney Lookout

Short walk near home through Brisbane Water National Park to an informal lookout over Mooney Mooney Creek.
The fire trail I followed gives access to the power lines that run through the park,

A couple of stitched panoramas

Now I know this creek is there I must organise a day to paddle it.

Spider from the trail in. Was the size of a mouse.

Waterfall Bay, Woy Woy

After the recent rain I thought it would be nice to paddle to Waterfall Bay fromm Woy Woy and take some photos. Which I did but I left my DSLR at home and had to make do with my phone and my waterproof compact. An excuse to go back after another rainy day. Waterfall Bay is one arm of Woy Woy Bay and after paddling around both arms of the bay and back to the Woy Woy Channel I had done a shade over 10klm.

Looking up Woy Woy Bay to Spion Kop which divides the two arms of the Bay. I will organise to climb this one day.

Steep sided ridges fall into the Bay and are part of Brisbane Waters National Park.

The waterfall (more cascades) were running as good as I have seen them.

Looking back down  from the waterfall to where the bay narrows and the mangroves start..

Minnehaha Falls

To finish my day in the Blue Mountains I visited Minnehaha Falls. Forgot though that it was school holidays and there was 30plus kids enjoying themselves down at the plunge pool.  I stopped on the ridge on the way down and didn't go any further. Will definitely return on a quieter day.
