Bobbin Head Loop

Not wanting to travel too far for a walk, it was time to walk from North Turramurra to Bobbin Head and back. I left the car at the Sphinx carpark and walked back through North Turramurra to the start of the Murrua Trail. It then links up with the Gibberagong Track and follows Cockle Creek down to Bobbin Head. From Bobbin Head I took the Warrimoo Track along Cowan Creek and then the steep Spinx track back to the car. 13.7klm for the round trip.

Murrua Trail meets the Gibberagong Track where a side creek comes in to a nice pool on Cockle Creek. A week of good rain had more water flowing than my last visit (Gibberagong Waterholes)

Continueing down the creek with little cascades and boulder strewn pools until the tidal influence is reached and it becomes broader and sandier.

After morning tea it was off through the marina to the start of the Warrimoo Track along Cowan Creek.

After a lot of steps it was back to the Sphinx, carved by a returned soldier who was recuperating at a nearby rehabilitation hospital. 

Long Point to Shoalhaven River

On my list of walks for a long time. Starting at the Long Point Lookout  6klm from Tallong, the walk of  just over 12klm is really a just a taste of the area, with more options available walking along the Shoalhaven once you reach McCallums Flat. A surprisingly well graded track to cover the steep up and down of this imposing country.

The track follows a narrow causeway/saddle out to Kingpin Mountain. The fall on both sides of the track is dizzingly steep. 

About half way down and the first glimpse of the Shoalhaven River comes into view.

Abandoned farm or mining machinery on the flat. 

A beautiful, grand river, which I had pretty much to myself. 

Magic

Little River, Buxton

The Little River  runs from near Hilltop down past Buxton and Thirlmere till it joins the Nattai River just short of the stored water of Lake Burragorang. This time I walked down to Aqua Pool from the road between Buxton and Balmoral. This section is part of Bargo State Recreation Area.

A  steep drop from the start down the firetrail with a few ups and downs first,leads to a crossing of a side creek..

and then on to the Little River.  Th river here is mostly very narrow with a few broader pools and runs over large rock bars of shelves. 

Aqua Pool at the turn around point of my walk. A deep pool and a good place for the local kids to cool off in on a hot day. 

A pleasant walk of 6klm return. There is a shorter track from Buxton which brings you straight to Aqua Pool. I will come here again and continue on down the river where I was told there are some nice boulder drops and pools .

Fairy Bower Falls Again

Short walk to Fairy Bower Falls in the Bundanoon section of Morton National Park. 

A short walk in to the creek at the lookout over the top of the falls.A small fall and pool sit at the creek crossing before the track continues down to the base of the falls.

Continuing on past the falls and heading back up to Tooth's Lookout makes this a loop walk. This is steep climb on a hot and lazy xmas day.
