Saratoga and Green Point

A lot of running around this week and by the weekend I was feeling lethargic. I spent the morning putting my draw system and my kayak racks into the new car and tidying up the piles of camping/kayaking gear that had been living on my lounge room floor. Late in the afternoon I forced myself out for a walk at Saratoga Wetlands. Not surprisingly this was a short walk through the swamp and mangroves and full of mosquitos. I have a memory of being able to access a small beach on Brisbane Water from here but this must have been through the Sailing Club gounds and as they were setting up for a function I didn't look too hard.

This was as close as I got to the water at the end of the mangroves at Paddy's Channel.

I then drove around and had a walk along the foreshore reserve at Green Point.

Both short walks, but I managed to do 5klm all up before some grocery shopping and a quiet night in with a piece of salmon and a salad.

Killalea

A quick stop at the NPWS office at Fitzroy Falls to transfer my annual pass to the new car and the on through Belmore Falls for coffee at Robertson before heading to the coast at Killalea State Park.
At Belmore Falls a quick walk to Wonderland falls. Ended up being a not so quick walk as I rolled my ankle which slowed us down a bit.

Not a lot of water coming over the falls today compared with our visits in June 15 and November 17. Has been a very dry summer.

By the time we got to Killalea it was very windy and the temperature had dropped a bit as a front went over.

Killalea Beach which goes by the local name of The Farm. Another short walk down along the beach and then to Killalea Lagoon.  I'll come back one day with a good ankle and walk around the lagoon.

A nice burger for lunch at the cafe above the beach with a great view.

I was going to walk down Minimurra Beach (Mystics) to the Minimurra River but again I put this off for another day.

We finished the day with a quick look at Bushranger Bay at Bass Point before another coffee at Shellharbour then back to Bundy via Jamberoo Pass.

Victory Track and Martins Lookout

I drove up after work and camped out at the end of Grose Rd. It was the night of the super blue blood moon but the cloud cover gave me no views and I was quickly asleep.
The next morning I drove in to Springwood and then caught the train back to Faulconbridge. I then set off to walk back to Springwood via the Victory Track and the Fairy Dell Track with a quick run up to Martins Lookout and back.

Not much water at Clarinda Falls.

The junction of Sassafras and Glenbrook Creek.

The track then follows Glenbrook Creek down to the Perch Ponds. I had made good time to here and it was only 1100hrs so I decided to head on to Martins Lookout. I took the short cut track which is more of a goat track and very steep.

The view across Glenbrook Creek from Martins Lookout

The white cross is at Bunyan Lookout and is a memorial to a Christian Brother who used to lead walks in the area.

I then took the main track (an easier gradient but longer) back down to Glenbrook Creek.

Then back to the Perch Ponds and up the Fairy Dell Track along Magdala Creek to Springwood.
Again not a lot of water coming over Martins Falls .

And I didn't even stop at Magdala Falls as they were pretty much dry.
Back at the car by 1345hrs after a walk of 17klm. I'll come back when the falls are working.

Jerusalem Bay Sunrise

I walked down after work and slept in my bivvy bag. A very hot and humid night and I was damp with sweat when I arrived at midnight. The weather app was saying 100% humidity. I slept on top of the bivvy bag for an uncomfortable night with beetles, cockroaches and mice crawling over me. At about 0230 I moved spots to beat the mice which seemed to work.
Sunrise was just after 6 but first light was just after 5 and I started taking photos at 0515. Wasn't a great sunrise with clouds obscuring the sun but I enjoyed being there nevertheless.

After an early breakfast and a quick walk out I was back home by 0800 from my mini adventure.
