Erith Coal Mine and Falls

Short walk in the Bundanoon section of Morton National Park. The coal mine worked a seam that was exposed in the cliff line next to a creek and waterfall. Apparently the tunnels followed the seam for kilometres underground.

Sunshine wattle brightening up a winters day.

The entrance to the coal mine, leaving a column of coal to support the roof.

The view of the falls from the coal mine entrance.

An easy but steep walk down to the pool at the bottom of the waterfall.

Cant have enough photos of a waterfall and a reason to justify carrying all the different lenses.

Looking down the creek from the falls

Back at the picnic area the Brown-headed Honeyeaters  were collecting kangaroo fur for their nests.

Wingecarribee River Walk

Late afternoon walk along the Wingecarribee River in Berrima.

In the paddock on the other side of the river we were being watched, before it was decided that maybe we were a threat.

Easy walking along a woodland path to follow the river to a point where the long river pools ended and the first rock bars appeared. Walking along the bank you could see where the recent rains had  swollen the river by at least a metre in height and more than doubling the width.

On the way back in the last of the afternoon light a platypus was seen in the river pool.

Dialing up the ISO to 10000 allowed me to get a few noisy images of Little Corellas at their evening roost. Hundreds of birds making lots of noise before bed.

Bundanoon Loop

Starting in Bundanoon and walking in to Morton National Park through Gambells Rest picnic and camping area, then on to Fairy Bower Falls, along Nichols Pass to the Amphitheatre and on to Mark Morton Lookout then back to Bundanoon via the Glow Worm Glen Track. 11klm all up.

Just before Fairy Bower Falls, water weeps and spreads out over the cliff with plant roots trailing down and concentrating the flow into separate streams.

Yanina Walk

A short morning walk while waiting for the shops to open, after a night shift.
The Yanina Walk is on Kincumba Mountain at Kincumber on the NSW Central Coast

Colin Watters lookout, looking down Picketts Valley to Avoca

The beach and Avoca Lagoon

On the way back a short detour to Kanning Cave. If you want to get dirty, the tunnel at the back of the cave goes through to another chamber. Not for me today.
